My pet isn’t perfectly trained. Can we still do a photo session?

Of course! (And also, no ones pet is perfectly trained!) I have worked with all different kinds of temperaments and have a number of tricks up my sleeve!

I’m not comfortable being in front of the camera, can we just do a session with my pet?

Of course you are not obligated to be in your photos. Although, I will say that my clients fall head over heels in love with the images they are in. It can be a big jump to decide to be in front of the camera - I totally understand. I don’t do awkward, posed photos and there is no pressure - I’ll just ask you to interact lovingly with your pet the way you normally do. These will be the images you love most <3

Here are some other ideas:

  • position your pet at your feet and I can capture you from the thigh down

  • your hands while you pet them

Can my pet wear his collar, harness, jacket or a cute, decorative hanky/bow?

Collars can be on or off. I do recommend removing tags but it depends on how you want your images to look. This could be a fun time to bust out that cute hanky or bow! I highly recommend hankies and Bush Brites from www.twelvepaws.ca. They are a local, small business and have beautiful products!

What should I wear?

I have lots of ideas to share when we book your session!

How should I prepare my home?

Firstly, we’ll likely only use a few rooms of your house, ideally ones with good light. Sessions typically take place in the living room, bedroom, and sometimes hallways/staircases.

Simply tidy up what you don’t want in your images and pass the vacuum/broom. Dark surfaces can show dust so give those a quick dusting. Do your best to remove pet hair from sofas if they’re opposing colours (eg. white hair on a dark couch.)

I’ll be following your pet around like the paparazzi so any place they tend to find comfy should ideally be tidy (eg. around their bed, at the foot/top of the couch/bed, etc.)

Depending on the weather, we could head to the backyard (if that interests you, of course,) so have a look around for any poop, hoses, tools, etc. that you personally wouldn’t want in your images. If you have cushions for your furniture, pull those out.

I can remove and alter small parts of a photo in Photoshop, but removing large objects or furniture is not possible. But don’t worry, we’ll have a quick walkaround before the session to make sure everything looks great.

This all ensures that the background is somewhat aesthetically pleasing and you love even more of your images!

How does this whole thing work with Covid-19?

For those who have concerns regarding Covid, I have been triple vaccinated and am happy to wear a mask during our session. I use hand sanitizer before and after every session and I will be fully transparent if I develop symptoms, travel, or come into contact with someone with C-19 etc. I ask that my clients alert me if they have symptoms, travel or come into contact with someone with Covid so that we may reschedule. I am happy to answer any questions you may have!
